Timiri Eamainn Ris

Timiri
Eamainn Ris means "The Messengers of Edmund Rice, founder of the
Christian Brothers.
It
was founded in Dublin, Ireland in 1989 by Brothers and former members
of the Congregation.
It
was "Timiri" in many ways that succeeded in bringing together again
the sons of Edmund Rice. They helped to break down the barriers
that had existed for far too long between Brothers and former Brothers.
Brothers
and former Brothers through prayer, scripture, reading and sharing
helped to heal the wounds and to open up again the great bonds of
friendship and love that had always existed.
Through
these meetings Brotherhood was renewed and reconciliation achieved.
In
1994 the Christian Brothers held an Assembly in University College,
Dublin. A special day was set aside where the Brothers invited former
Brothers and their wives and friends to attend. This was a historic
occasion when over 600 people consisting of Brothers, former Brothers
and their wives from all over Ireland were reunited after many years
in a spirit of love, reconciliation and brotherhood.
In
planning for the Beatification of Edmund Rice in Rome in October
1996, members of Timiri were invited to be involved in the various
organizing Committees and to work with the Brothers preparing for
the great event. In Rome they were present in great numbers celebrating
the wonderful occasion.
In
the National Celebration in Tallaght, Dublin after the Beatification
in Rome, Timiri were once again involved and we were privileged
to do so.
Timiri
has played a significant role where Brothers, former Brothers and
all members of the Edmund Rice can unite and support one another
through prayer and sharing
At
the Annual General Meeting in Emmaus, Swords, Co. Dublin on 11 October
1997 it was agreed to open up Timiri to anyone; parents, past pupils,
teachers and friends, to become part of Timiri.
Many
people have now joined the Brothers and Former Brothers in various
groups.
Aims
of Timiri:
To
develop our relationship with the Lord through the spirit of Edmund
Rice by means of prayer, scripture reading, discussion and sharing.
To
form groups who come together to share faith and prayer, at a convenient
location, and who are inspired by the charism of Edmund Rice, to
grow and develop spiritually in union with our Brothers in the Congregation.
